I love it when Anni says "blue." She says it in such an utterly Anni way. My tiny little cartoon baby.

A Perfect 10
Here's a clip of Anni counting to 10. Probably the cutest counting job you'll ever see!

Blink
Abby crawled into bed with us this morning, per her usual. She usually crawls in and brings a book or a toy or a blanket (or all the above). This morning she brought in her new pony (a gift from two of the neighbor girls). She was lying there quietly, making her pony do flips, when she starting whispering to me.
Abby: Why my pony don't blink?
Me: What, honey?
Abby: My pony don't blink. How come why?
Me: Well, because that's a toy and toys don't blink. People blink and animals blink.
Abby: Ponies don't blink?
Me: Real ponies don't blink but toy ponies don't. This is a toy pony.
Abby: The ponies in my movie blink.
Me: Uhh...

Shoes
Dana took the girls out to the farm this weekend. On their way home last night, he called me and excitedly reported that Anni put her shoes on...all by herself! Apparently it got quite quiet in the backseat (she was concentrating very hard). Then she got all excited and yelled, "I do it, I do it!" And she had, in fact, put her shoes on all by herself!

Cricket
A month or two ago, the girls, Dana and I went to a library sale and got a stack of new books. One of the books we got was The Very Quiet Cricket by Eric Carle. We've read the book repeatedly (much like every other book in our house), but this particular book also elicited a new game for the girls (and Dana, and every once and a while, me).

News?
Both girls have some nasty colds right now. Let's just say if snot were money, I'd be so freakin' rich I wouldn't even know what to do with myself.
Abby was up extremely early this morning (3 a.m.) and went back to sleep for a little while. She took a so-so nap. Anni refused to nap at all. I put both girls to bed early tonight, mostly to give my ears a break from the tone of the day (read: excessive whining). The upstairs is really warm tonight and Abby woke up and crawled into our bed. I laid there with her for a few minutes and then she said she wanted to go downstairs. Normally, I'm a stickler for bedtime, but honestly, it's been a heckuva day, I'm tired and hot, and she's just not sleeping.
On the way downstairs, however, I informed Miss Abigail that she could go downstairs, but she and I would simply be sitting on the couch. She nodded and said, hopefully, "And maybe watch a cartoon?" I said, "No. No cartoons." She nodded again and asked, "How bout a movie?" Again, I replied in the negative. In a last ditch effort, she asks"
"We watch the news?!"

Proud Papa
I bought the girls a couple little diy necklace kits a few weeks ago. Anni isn't overly interested in them, but Abby has great fun putting them together. Mostly she makes them for herself, but one day she insisted on making one for Daddy. So, we made one for him and here he is, proudly showing it off. He then proceeded to wear it to work and get some mighty strange looks. Apparently, Proud Papa forgot he was wearing the magnificent creation, resplendent with butterflies and flowers. :)

Out of the Mouths of Babes
I'm sort of a stickler about things. Shocking, right?
Well, for some reason, I've decided the girls should say "bottom" instead of "butt". I have no idea why and I blame my mother for it (and she accepts that). For some reason, the word "butt" coming out of those tiny little mouths just doesn't sound right to me. So, "bottom" it is.
Abigail has, true to form, taken to correcting people if she hears them say "butt". She's corrected her dad, her grandma and who knows who else. She's also corrected yours truly.
Me: You should have seen William and Anni the other day. They were too cute.
Dana: Oh yeah?
Me: Yeah. William doesn't quite know how to kiss yet, but he does this head butt thing and it's sort of like kissing.
Abby: BOTTOM Mom. Head BOTTOM.

10
Last night, the girls and I were at Nana's house. Abby was downstairs playing and Anni was upstairs visiting with mom and Nana. She was looking at one of her books and I asked her how many pigs were on the page. She proceeded to count the pigs. She started at 1 and made it all the way to 10. ALL BY HERSELF! Yay Anni! Granted, there weren't actually 10 pigs on the page, but Nana and I were very impressed that the Noodle could count to ten, ALL BY HERSELF, and say all the numbers in the correct order.
A genius, I tell you, a genius.

New Phrases Part II
Apparently Little Miss Abigail also has a new phrase. This morning we were playing in the computer room/playroom. The girls were jumping from their chairs, making the house shake the way they like to do, and one of their toys fell off the toy box. We all turned to look at what fell, Abigail looked right at me and said,
"Jesus Christ."
Apparently someone (Dana) needs to watch his mouth. ;)

New Phrases
Anni is now talking a mile a minute. I find it utterly charming and a lot of times, completely hysterical. She's constantly telling Abby to "Come on, Abby" or asking me, "Help Mama." She's stringing sentences together and coming up with new words faster than I can count.
My and Dana's new favorite phrase, however, is too precious to not blog about (and Dana even asked me specifically to blog about it.)
The perfect, precious phrase of the moment, courtesy of the Noodle?
