The girls decided to have a banana for snack this morning, mostly because Daddy had a banana with his breakfast this morning. Anni took her banana with a "T'ink yo-ou!" Abby needed to talk about it a little more.
Abby: This a big banana?
Me: Yep. That's a big banana.
Abby: Like Daddy have?
Me: Yep, just like Daddy's.
Abby: What kind banana?
Me: Uhhhh...the banana kind.
Abby (nodding to herself and whispering to her banana): The banana kind.

Come over to the Dark Side
Anni has finally come over to the dark side. The child cannot get enough of the books that cover every inch of our house. At least 30 times a day, she comes up to me, book in hand and says, "Read book." After a look, she shakes her head vigorously up and down, smiles and says, "Peas!" followed by, "yeah, yeah, yeah". And, if you take too long to answer, she will then proceed to shove the book into your face and shout "READ BOOK!"
It took her a little while to come around to Dana, Abby and my side of the book world, but now we've got her hooked!

Morning Routine
Miss Abigail has a new morning routine. For the past couple weeks, she's been waking up before Anni, which in and of itself is unusual. Abby's always been the sleeper of the two girls. These days, however, she likes to get herself out of her crib and crawl into bed with me for a few minutes. She usually brings a book with her. We cuddle for a few minutes (it will pretty much be the only cuddle time I get with the Monkey all day) and then she hucks herself off the bed to go in search of her dad. Dana's usually already downstairs watching the news. So, the two of them watch the news and read some stories, waiting for Anni to wake up.
And as much as I am not a morning person, and as much as I hate being woken up in the morning, I wouldn't trade in those few minutes in the morning for anything.

The Noodle
Anni was asking me about people this afternoon:
Anni: Riley?
Me: Riley's at her house.
Anni: BaPa?
Me: Papa's at his house.
Anni: BA Pa!
Me: Oh, so sorry for the misunderstanding! Grandpa is at his house.
Anni: Yeah.

Turn of Phrase
Abigail has a new phrase. She likes to use it liberally these days. And it makes me laugh everytime, especially since she's so very sincere every time she says it. Here are some of her most recent sentences, phrase included:
You otay, honey?
You want to eat, honey?
That your car, honey?
It time for dinner, honey?
You read me stories, honey?

You read me stories, honey?

What?!
The girls are not allowed to eat or drink upstairs. Both are well aware of this policy. Anni, however, tends to ignore it, causing me to make extra trips up and down the stairs. I keep telling myself this is good for my posterior, but still...
This afternoon, I was upstairs putting away some laundry and Anni came trooping up the stairs talking about her "ba-maa-maa" (that's banana for those of you less familiar with Anni speak). Of course, the little stinker has part of a banana in her hand. I can hear her coming, so I say,
"Anni, no bananas upstairs."
She continues up the stairs.
"Anni, you take that banana back downstairs."
She continues up to the top of the steps.
"Anni! Mommy said no banana upstairs!"
Anni looks at mommy and promptly shoves the entire piece of banana (approximately 1/3 of a rather large banana) into her mouth. She then turns, looks at me and spreads her hands out, like:
What?! I don't have a banana...

I Love You - More - Most
So, when Dana and I finally got to the "I love you" part of our relationship (warning! sap alert!), we would have this ongoing "battle" over who loved who more. One would tell the other s/he loved him/her and the other would come back with "I love you more." Sappy, I know. And don't ever tell Dana I posted this.
Well, a few weeks ago, the girls picked up on this habit and have started using it when Dana leaves for work. And, of course, they've added a twist. After several rounds of hugs and kisses, Dana attempts to get out the door. And the following conversation ensues:
Dana: Goodbye! I love you!
Abby: I love you!
Anni: Love you!
Abby: Love you more!
Dana: I love you more!
Anni: More!
Abby: I love you MOST!
And Dana goes out the door with a good chuckle and I'm pretty sure a nice warm fuzzy.

Sharing Time is Happy Time?
Today, my wonderful husband came home with daisies for me and chocolates for me and the girls. After baths, the girls each got to have a piece of their chocolates. They got a different kind than I got. Well, one piece is never enough, so Anni decided to bring my chocolates over to me. At which point Abby announced:
"I want to share with you, Mom!"
I really don't like to share my chocolate. But my kids like it when I share...and I'm pretty sure they would've smothered me if I hadn't.
